How we treat one another here.
The Way exists so that someone arriving in a new city can find a church by their second Sunday, find people to share a meal with, and — if they choose it — meet someone with intention. That only works if this stays a place people can trust. These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and apply everywhere: profiles, messages, groups, events, church listings, and Intentional Fellowship.
Harassment and abuse. Threats, intimidation, stalking, sexual harassment, repeated unwanted contact, doxxing, or coordinated pile-ons. Continuing to contact someone who asked you to stop.
Hate. Content that attacks or demeans people for race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, disability, sex, or religion — including other Christian traditions and other faiths.
Sexual content and solicitation. Nudity, sexually explicit material, or sexual propositions. This is a faith community, and Intentional Fellowship is about courtship and marriage-mindedness, not sex.
Anything involving minors. Any sexualisation of a minor, any attempt by an adult to make romantic or sexual contact with a minor, and any content that endangers a child. This is reported to the appropriate authorities and results in a permanent ban with no ladder and no second chance.
Money and exploitation. Asking members for money, loans, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or investment. Romance scams. Fake emergencies. Multi-level-marketing recruitment. Charging people for access to fellowship. Nobody on The Way has a legitimate reason to ask you for money.
Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, a pastor, a church, a denomination, a ministry, or a member of our team. Claiming a church listing you have no authority over.
Spam and manipulation. Mass or repetitive messaging, bulk unsolicited promotion, fake accounts, scraping, automation, or gaming rate limits and blocks.
Illegal activity. Anything unlawful, including trafficking, weapons, controlled substances, and fraud.
Self-harm content. Encouraging or instructing self-harm or suicide. If you are struggling, please reach out to someone — and if you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
Misusing safety tools. Filing knowingly false reports, or retaliating against someone for reporting you.
Church listings are a shared resource, so the standard is accuracy rather than opinion.
If you organise a group or an event, you take on responsibility for it.
Where Intentional Fellowship is available, these Guidelines apply in full, plus the points below.
Reports from Intentional Fellowship are prioritised, and someone with repeated substantiated reports loses access to it before any other penalty applies.
In-app reporting is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
A person reviews every report — not a machine. Our tools can flag and sort, but they cannot remove your content or restrict your account on their own. The usual path is:
Severe violations — threats, exploitation, danger to a minor, sexual exploitation — skip the ladder entirely. Only a senior administrator can issue a permanent ban. If you go a long stretch without further violations, earlier steps stop counting against you.
If you believe we got it wrong, write to support@thewaychrist.com with your account email and what happened. We aim to respond within 14 days. We will tell you the category of the violation, but we will never reveal who reported you.
