The agreement between you and The Way.
Welcome to The Way. These Terms are the agreement between you and Lumetrin Consulting Services LLC ("Lumetrin", "we", "us" or "our") about how you may use the app. We have written them to be readable. They are still a legal agreement, so please read them. By creating an account you agree to these Terms, to the Privacy Policy, and to the Community Guidelines.
If you are between 13 and 17, some features are limited to protect you. Intentional Fellowship is never available to you, and adults outside shared, moderated spaces cannot message you.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us, for keeping your password secure, and for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@thewaychrist.com if you think someone else has access to it.
Your date of birth cannot be edited in the app. If it is wrong, contact us and we will correct it with a record of why.
The Way helps you discover churches, join groups and events, and connect with other members. It is a directory and a community, not an authority.
We do not endorse doctrine. Listing a church, letting a church claim its profile, or marking a church as verified says nothing about whether we agree with what that church teaches. Verification confirms facts — that the person managing a listing genuinely represents that church, and that the listed details were checked against a reliable source.
We do not guarantee people, churches, listings, groups, events, or relationships. We do not run background checks. We do not vet members. We do not verify that a person is who they say they are. Meeting people carries real-world risk, and that risk stays with you.
The Way is not an emergency service. Reporting something here does not contact police, medical services, or a crisis line. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
A church may be listed if it publicly identifies as a Christian church or ministry, represents a real congregation with verifiable contact or location details, is not fraudulent or impersonating anyone, and provides enough information for the listing to be useful.
Those are the only criteria. Denominational, theological, or cultural disagreement is never grounds for excluding a church.
Any member may suggest a correction. Corrections go through review and you are always told the outcome. Repeatedly submitting false corrections is a violation of these Terms.
Church representatives may claim a listing by providing evidence of their role. Claims are reviewed by a person, never approved automatically. Impersonating a church, denomination, pastor, or ministry is strictly prohibited.
You keep ownership of what you post — your photos, your bio, your messages, your group and event descriptions.
By posting content on The Way you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and distribute that content only for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving The Way. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained for safety and legal reasons described in the Privacy Policy and the Account Deletion document.
You confirm that you own or have the right to post what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
Our Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. In short, you must not:
Intentional Fellowship is a separate, voluntary, adults-only part of The Way, and it is not available in every release. If it is available to you and you choose to join:
You control who can message you — everyone as requests, people who share a group, event, or church context with you, only people whose requests you accept, or no one at all. These limits are enforced on our servers.
Messages are protected in transit but are not end-to-end encrypted. A small, designated safety team can access specific messages when investigating a specific report or safety concern, and every access is logged. We explain this fully in the Privacy Policy, and we will never claim your messages are inaccessible to us.
Every conversation, profile, group, event, and listing offers report, block, mute, and leave.
Blocking is silent. The person you block is never told. They lose the ability to message you or see your profile details, and you stop seeing them.
When a rule is broken we may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account, or permanently ban it. We normally escalate — a warning, then a feature restriction, then a suspension, then a ban — but a severe violation can skip straight to removal. A human always makes the final decision. The Content Moderation Policy explains the process, including how to appeal.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. The Account Deletion document explains exactly what happens.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if we are legally required to, or if keeping it active would create a serious risk to someone. Where we can, we will tell you why and how to appeal.
The Way does not process member-to-member payments, escrow, lending, or fundraising. Nobody on The Way should ever ask you to send them money, inside the app or outside it. Requests for money are a violation and should be reported.
The app may link to church websites, maps, and other external services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices. Church data may come from open sources such as OpenStreetMap, and required attributions are shown where those sources are used.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Way is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that church information is accurate or current, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any member is who they claim to be, or that any connection, friendship, courtship, or relationship formed here will be safe or successful.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lumetrin Consulting Services LLC and its officers, employees, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising from your use of The Way.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of Lumetrin Consulting Services LLC arising out of or relating to The Way or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) US$100, or (b) the total amount you paid Lumetrin Consulting Services LLC for use of The Way in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You agree to indemnify and hold Lumetrin Consulting Services LLC harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone’s rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Maryland, United States, unless applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app and by email before it takes effect, and we will record which version you accepted. Continuing to use The Way after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are the entire agreement between us about The Way. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor.
